Cradle of Humankind Tour

An hour outside Johannesburg the Cradle of Humankind holds roughly a third of all early hominid fossils ever found. You visit the Maropeng Visitor Centre, with its underground boat ride through the elements, and then descend into the Sterkfontein Caves where Mrs Ples and Little Foot were discovered. It is a genuinely humbling half-to-full day and the drive out through the Magaliesberg foothills is beautiful in itself.
